AWAY WITH MEDIOCRITY

By: Adrienne Dobson

Even at a young age, it was always instilled in me to never applaud mediocrity.  Average is never good enough when you can always do better.  Unfortunately, as you grow up your peers can become your guiding influence and I began coming to grips with my little imperfections.  I wasn’t tall enough to be a post-player for the Lady Vols, and I wasn’t thin enough to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, but those little things were out of my control.  But because of life and it’s situations we often adapt and accept everything that comes our way.  We get ‘C’s in school and automatically we say it’s for completion or we get a “D” and it’s for diploma.  We continue to be accepting of this mediocrity and then we wonder why we can’t excel in all areas of life.  Our acceptance of mediocrity makes any effort we put into our spiritual and natural living seem acceptable.  What happened to the times when we didn’t take anything less than average.  I urge you, brothers and sisters in Christ, let us stop accepting average and truly practice out 1 Corinthians 10:31 and do all things to give God the glory.
